Title: Geomechanics Specialist – Unconventional Resources (Saudi Arabia)
Location(s): Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Description:
Perform technical analysis and studies related to UR geomechanics assessments in KSA:
– Hands on 1D and 3D Geomechanics, Real-Time Geomechanics, and well bore stability analysis in different geographical areas
– Support drilling operations through real time geomechanics and Well Bore Stability studies for drilled wells
– Apply geomechanical models to optimize fracture stimulation, optimize drilling and well placement; minimize reservoir compaction, surface subsidence and sand production
– Provide real-time decision support to the drilling team to maximize drilling efficiency and minimize risk while achieving the well objectives
– Advise clients on drilling, stimulation, and sanding problems issues and solutions through the use of geomechanics solutions
– Integrate the geomechanics solution with other domains in the FDP team
– Has the ability to work with the multidisciplinary team, delivers innovative technology to reduce drilling and completion risk and optimizes reservoir production. He describes stresses and mechanical properties for a formation, field, or basin to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions to geomechanical problems
– Provides real-time decision support to the drilling team to maximize drilling efficiency and minimize risk while achieving the well objectives
– Provide active mentoring to the technical community, exploration geoscientists and/or technicians assigned to work on a common project.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Geology, or Geophysics or a related science as appropriate to the required discipline. An advanced degree is preferred and will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by one year for master degree and two years for PhD.
Experience:
Minimum 7-10 years oil and gas industry experience. Experience in 3D Geomechanics modeling and simulation. Experience on 1D Mechanical Earth Models and Well Bore Stability studies. Prior consulting/secondment experience a plus.
Skills:
Advanced knowledge and application of geomechanics principles. Good working knowledge of products and services. Excellent client relations, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; a real team player.
Software Skills:
Hands on experience with Petrel or equivalent software.
Duration:
Full-time permanent. 2-3 year expatriate assignment.
