Description:
Sr. Geologist This position is responsible for specifying, acquiring, and evaluating geological data required in the design, drilling, and operation of oil & gas fields. Must have experience at the well site in both guiding horizontal well drilling as well as quality control logging runs. Major Duties and Responsibilities (ranked in priority) 1. Generate and update maps, logs, cross sections and corporate databases with new tops, correlations, shows and other pertinent geological data 2. Create, generate, manage and represent sound , high quality geologic interpretations and new drilling opportunities 3. Interact with engineers providing interpreted well logs, cross sections and maps for volumetrics, problems wells, drilling risks and recommended completion intervals 4. Coordinate well logging activities 5. Provide geological support for active development drilling programs 6. Effectively identify, diagnose and recommend solutions to a variety of complex business and technical problems Other Skills/Expectations • Outstanding interpersonal skills are required; ability to effectively deal with range of personalities and hierarchy within company; must be professional, diplomatic and tactful. • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook; Must be experienced with mapping and cross section software preferably PETRA or SMT Kingdom. • Excellent attention to detail; accuracy highly important. • Ability to make and act upon sound, independent judgment with prescribed parameters. • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while supporting a team environment. • Must use discretion and confidentiality with sensitive and/or private information or matters. • Excellent time management skills required; ability to reprioritize and be flexible is a must. • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and analyze all types of data. • Ability to identify problems and provide solutions. • Ability to work on projects of increased complexity under limited direction. • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Experience: Minimum of 6 years’ experience in oil &gas; preferably in working resources plays (i.e. gas or oil shale’s) Education: A master's degree or higher in related field is a plus
