JOB TITLE: Senior Commercial Specialist
REPORTS TO: Operating Unit Senior Manager Commercial

1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
The Senior Commercial Specialist forms a part of the Project Controls function and functionally reports into the Senior Manager Commercial.
This position shall manage the commercial management discipline on a project, and report into the project leader.
A Senior Commercial Specialist shall ensure that accurate, timely and value added analysis of commercial items on the project is performed and reported, resulting in project risk mitigation and enhanced project returns.
2. POSITION OVERVIEW
Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities
• Operate in accordance with the Operating Model policy and the Delivering Certainty principles
• Implement commercial management techniques and methods in accordance to Company procedures and practises
• Provide commercial support during the bid phase including reviewing the bid package and consolidating the technical, commercial, and contractual conditions
• As required, attend commercial meetings with prospective Customer and significant critical subcontractors and suppliers
• Manages the main contract on the project, including areas such as conducting the commercial awareness sessions, correspondence management, change management, support the dispute management process, flow down of main contract conditions to suppliers, and guide procurements in subcontract management
• Support the project leader in project kickoff, and conduct the commercial kick off meeting
• Raise commercial awareness amongst the project team and ensure that the contractual obligations and rights are understood
• Continually advise the project team on commercial and contractual matters
• Ensure the Customer deliverables are timely delivered (including financial, insurance, and reporting deliverables)
• Participate in PROM sessions by identifying risks and opportunities and the contractual and commercial remedy to maximize project returns
• Lead in change order management including the creation of a change order request (pricing, entitlement, extension of time, qualifications), maintain change logs, and negotiate change orders
• Participate in the project meetings (internal and with Customer) especially dealing with commercial and contractual subject matters
• Support the project by working in conjunction with the Legal team in preparing insurance claims, CAR / liability claims, and dispute resolution process
• Actively manage the commercial side of the project close out including assembling all the completion certificates, confirming the commencement of the warranty period, closing out any outstanding financial documents, and conclude outstanding change order requests and payments with the Customer.
• Maintain and raise work standards, including corporate governance
• Provide coaching and mentoring support to team members
• Perform knowledge and talent management to raise the overall discipline competency
• Interface with other Project Controls disciplines and other company functions to provide a project solution
• Comply with Company’s ‘Delivering Certainty’ program and effectively cascade similar reinforcement within the discipline
• Cultivates a high standard of the QHSES culture compliance in the work place
• Develop and roll out global discipline procedures
• Enhance the company expertise in cost forecast integrity and accuracy
• Travel to work sites upto 25% of the time

5. PERSON SPECIFICATION
Preferred Experience and Education
• Professional qualifications – Bachelors Degree Qualified (Business or Engineering preferred)
• Relevant experience – minimum 4 years
• Highly preferred - experienced in marine offshore and / or fabrication project
• Global EPCI project exposure
• Energy and Construction Industry Experience
